Dos and Don'ts of Writing

Since you are required to use your imagination and creativity when you write, why should there be writing rules? If you are bound by rules, how would you be able to write without restrictions?

Well, in every piece of writing that you do, there are some rules that you should bear in mind so that you can write your best and ensure that your readers understand and are interested in what you are writing.

Read the checklist below. They are simple points to take note of that will go a long way in helping you become a fantastic writer.



Do
- must be relevant to the topic given
- plan your story before writing 
- be clear about what you want to write and ensure that everything you write is related to your plot 
- be realistic 
- have a logical flow 
- create suspense 
- vary your sentence structures 
- vary your vocabulary 
- use correct grammar 


Are you making these mistakes? It isn’t too late to stop!

Don't 
- use flowery language and difficult words that do not relate to your story
- write without having a climax in your story 

- write details that are not relevant to your story
