Phrasal Verbs and More... (Part II)

As promised, here is another post on phrasal verbs. Instead of diving into a new list of phrasal verbs, read the short paragraph below and see if you can spot some of the phrasal verbs that were in the earlier post.

It was just after dawn and the roads were quiet. Driving at high speed, Jordan whistled and occasionally glanced out of the window at the passing scenery. He was on his way to the golf course. Nothing could come between him and his favourite sport. The golf course was also famous for being the home of the rich and famous. As he rounded a corner, he stepped on the brakes to slow down but the pedal hardly moved. Fear coursed through him as he swerved first right then left. Why did his car choose to act up at this time? Before he knew it, the car slammed against the road divider. Jordan was flung forward so hard that his head crashed against the windscreen. Blood began to ooze from a gaping wound on his forehead. "Help me..." he moaned. Unable to put up with the excruciating pain, he lost consciousness.
